Do you know..? What OPAN stands for?
What does the acronym OPAN mean….and why should you know about it?
OPAN stands for Australia’s OLDER PERSONS ADVOCACY NETWORK and is a free service offered to everyone in Australia, to support, protect, advocate for and empower ageing Australians.
OPAN is made up of nine state and territory based service delivery organisations.
These organisations work closely with each other to deliver free, nationally consistent advocacy, information and education services to older people residing in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote Australia and their telephone number is: 1800 700 600
You can call and get straight through to your State advocacy network to speak to a real person about your concern(s)
Inside the website you’ll see several tabs across the top, which offer a lot of information, free resources, and even deep information on the (somewhat confronting) topic of ‘Elder Abuse’.
OPAN is a not-for-profit entity which receives funding from the Commonwealth Department of Health and supports consumers to effectively access and interact with Commonwealth Aged Care Services.
