Did you know…? 80,000 Home Care Packages are coming

In today’s ‘Did you know..?’ session, we explore the 80,000 new Home Care Packages being released over the next two financial years.

If, like me, you find the news surrounding the Budget to be overwhelming (not to mention boring) you can be forgiven for missing an exciting announcement:

• 80,000 additional Home Care Packages will be made available to registered My Aged Care applicants over the next two financial years.
• 40,000 from 1 July 2021 – 30 June 2022; and 40,000 the following year.
  If you are one of the approximate 130,000 Australians aged 65 years or older, patiently waiting for your Home Care Package to be assigned*… this should make a difference to you – and hopefully very soon!
  
  

If you’ve already had your ACAT assessment, and have received your Letter of Approval for your eligibility to receive a Home Care Package; You can call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 and ask how much longer you will need to wait. 

*If you have recently had your ACAT assessment, you may still be waiting for your package to be ‘approved’
Once approved, there is often still a considerable waiting time for a Package to become available; which is when you will receive a letter advising you you have been ‘assigned’ a package.
